View Full Version : Volume of wave files

Whenever I work with wave files and burn them to cds there are always different volume levels between the tracks. This is hard to pick up when I play them. But it's annoying having to adjust the playback volume for each track. Is there a software program that will normalise(I think this is the term) the tracks to a consistent level. One that doesn't cost much or none at all.

Hello Stan,
Yes normalising its called, if you would like to go to www.download.com and in the search type normalize there are a couple of freebies there. you will have to convert from mp3 to wave file before normalising and convert back to mp3 if desired, and you will end up with 3 different files of the same song. Personally, I use mediajukebox which normalises before it burns cds, converts, etc.
cheers,

I use CDex (www.cdex.n3.net) for normalising tracks as I rip them.

I think you can also use it on waves.

MP3toCD will also automatically convert mp3's to CDA and will normilize the tracks before burning to CD.
