Hi all
my partner, a teacher is having to move to W7.
She asked me to backup her files which, as per school's request, are all on the C drive.
I have never used Vista.
Is there anything standard on the system so I could backup? Or, is there a transfer files setup?

edit: I do have a spare usb hdd free for this

Nothing really special, unless she has stuff stored someplace out of the normal locations.

Data can be transferred, programs need reinstalling.

Just make a list so you dont forget anything, email, address book, fav's documents, pictures etc

Is she going to run Win7 on the Vista PC? You could simply upgrade Vista to Win 7.

She takes the laptop to school and someone does install W7. I believe they wipe and install.
When they moved from xp she had lost all her email on the machine(except all was on gmail). Though it was a great pain reestablishing all again.
