A few days ago someone on f1 asked why he was having problems -and in the adisories following F1 asked how old was his router--

This made me think; hence the question- While using FF and I /E I frequently get a comment that the router has timed out or am dumped and sic,. a chess move has to be re done
The router is about 6 years old a D Link 502T as supplied by Telecom --it is hard wired ie non wireless

This makes the point that sometimes a "postcard chess " game disappears

Am I up for a replacement?:wub

Well it's an ADSL 1 modem isn't it? (Can't be bothered checking).
Now there's ADSL 2+ it's worth changing modems.

Although if not, and it works, then why bother?

If there's an issue it means troubleshooting rather than just assuming it might be one thing.

not helpful I know, I am having Page Not Found timeouts and stuff at present. Brand new shiny modem, new house, speed is fine. No disconnects.

So far had 1 piece of advise (elsewhere) which doesn't sound like a fix to me.
