View Full Version : Dead power supply?

The home PC was switched off today while I was at work.

When it was switched on again, it didn't.

I can see an LED glowing on the motherboard through ventilation holes in the side of the case, but when I press the power button on the front of the case, I get a little blue (and brief) glimmer from the LED that surrounds the button that normally glows when said button is pressed, and nothing else. The next time I press the power button, nothing.

Does that suggest some power is getting through the power supply but not enough to run the machine?

Time for another power supply? (I think this one's had two already, in the last 2 years or so!)

Yes.

What brand did you buy? PSUs do die, but it is better to stick with the quality brands which die a whole lot less often.

Corsair for instance.

By switch I meant button thing you press to turn it on
