Hi.

Recently I installed a new driver for my 5870 video card, and since then I've only had problems.

Loading videos on say, youtube, my computer will freeze for about 3-5 seconds, then come right - Sometimes.

Sometimes, both screens will completely black out, come back after a few seconds, and the webpage will be all "messed" up. Another few seconds and all is back to normal. Then a message will pop up from ATI saying "VPU Recover"

I thought it could have been overheating, but it's just sitting on around, 50c.

The driver I installed was 10.10.

Is it just a simple case of a .. bad driver or something?

If you need more info just ask.

Thanks

What is your PSU? It may not be supplying enough power to the card, or overloaded and supplying unclean power.

Think you diagnosed that already. Roll it back to the earlier driver. 10.9 or whatever.

10.9 and 10.10 also had hotfixes. 10.9 has 1. 10.10 has a 10.10c hotfix. Dont know if that'll fix it tho. When I had 10.9 and played bejeweled, I couldnt select the options because hw acceleration was enabled. It kept stuttering / freezing. The 10.9 hotfix fixed it (even tho it wasnt for these cards).

But then soon after 10.10 came out so I installed that (without the 10.10c hotfix). And its still fine

Guess I didn't see that bit about the problem only after an update..
