Can't remember the exact model number, but Toshiba M801 I think ... can anyone give me an idea of what temperature the CPU runs at .... just normal use, not heavy gaming or video editing etc.

Speecy saying 55c .... Too high ??

is this your own notebook? If you know the cpu then google the max temp. See what it runs at under stress and if it stays under that temp then it should be fine.
Some laptops run as hot as 100 degrees, if not higher. I try to keep mine under 60 degrees absolute max but then I'm uber protective of what I do on my laptop haha

No ... not mine. But a friend who I'm trying to help out. He's overseas he's asking me questions.

get him to use cpu z and hw monitor.
CPU z will tell him his cpu model, then he can google it, get the max temp, and monitor it when he's worried about it using hw monitor. I have hw monitor running while I'm doing stressful stuff, my cpu generally maxes at 70 degrees when I'm doing gaming, normally about 60 degrees.

Well .... just found out what CPU specs were .... 41c Min ... 95c Max .... 55 sounds OK to me !

my hp pavillion dv5 is at 94 degrees Celsius right now. i only have word, chrome and windows explorer open. its been on for 30 mins now...
