Assuming that this is now considered abandonware would anyone know a link to original image files (preferable to have the .img extension)?

That is one OS I always wanted to try. I know it used to run the old self service TAB machines.

same here, I'm trying to emulate it but it doesn't agree with the file formats I have :(

I think I downloaded a preconfigured VM of OS/2 some time ago (think it was version 1.3).

OS/2 is not, was not, and will not ever be abandonware as parts of the code are licenced from M$ and amiga or commodore, hence the reason they didn't open source it which was mooted for a while

And it is still being made as ecom station.

There was a free version given away on a cover cd of an aussie computer magazine around 7 or 8 years ago

You need to use MS Virtual PC for this, not VirtualBox

You can download a "Live cd" of ecomm station(newer version of OS/2) this is not installable to your harddrive, but i assume like most live cds it should run fine in a virtual box,
http://www.ecomstation.com/demo.phtml

Depending on your version of virtual box you may not be able to run OS/2, i know it ran in older versions but more modern versions it doesn't work in.

So you may be wasting your time
see here (http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17515) <-- not the link i wanted but it'll do.

All of this is very interesting. Just one question.... Does the i-Toot work on PCs as well as macs?

.VHDs are just virtual hard disks, you could compare them to ISOs, only they have their own file system within them.

I know there was a tool going round that could turn a real HD into a VHD, don't think it could go the other way though.

Hey, being a mac user do you have parallels desktop, as Parallels (actually the project before it came parallels) was originally written to host a OS/2 guest, and I believe you can run os/2 in Parallels

This may help you too, its installing ecommstation inside virtual box, it may work for os/2 as well
