Everyone talks about how you need a super computer and expensive video card with a ton of RAM to play the now games. What I want to know is two things since I am building a computer. What game is out there that take the most out of a computer?, and what is the minimum system do I need to build in order to run it?

Flight Simulator X.

Crysis 2 probably when it comes out they say "we want it to be a new pc gaming benchmark" or something.

BTW to build a PC to run it your going to need to wait for at least the demo version before you start. You will probably be looking @ 4gb+ DDR3 RAM it will probably be quite large in file size 2.7ghz+ Dual (preferably quad) core cpu, and a b*tch of a gfx card (will run better on NVidia).

Depends on what you're after really, care to expand a little bit on what you're hoping to achieve, or do? :)

flight sim x wins, because you need a joystick :P

You don't need a joystick. You can just use the keyboard, but who would.

The reason I ask is I'm going to build a computer with AMD Phenom 2 X 4 Model 955 which is a quad and runs at 3.2 gigs. DDR3 1333 at 4 gigs with a Diamond 5550 1 gig. I'm going to run it on a cheap 28 inch Monitor. I think that this can run any game out there but I want to make sure and that is why I ask. I really want this system to take 10,000 picture which I have in one file and drag and drop in folders and so forth.

Really? is that the case with all the flight sims?

(will run better on NVidia).

Why will it run better on nvidia cards?

Probably cos nVidia cards support Physx at a wild guess. Not sure about the specs of Crysis 2

AMD Phenom 2 X 4 Model 955 DDR3 1333 at 4 gigs with a Diamond 5550 1 gig.

It's a terible card. RAM is OK, CPU is even OK (unless you intend to play MSFSX which uses CPU more). Take a look at Tomshardware - the VGA charts - they rank them, best to worst.

It does depend on what sort of games you want to play as to how good a card you need but if you are talking FPS games, then forget the 5550.

Whats that?...no GPU card I know of.....28inch monitor so thats HD which means mid to high end if you want smooth graphics

What would you recommend? I'm fond of the ATI Diamond Radeon Series. I'm thinking of DIAMOND ATI RADEON HD 5570 DDR3 1GB PCI Express Video Card?

I'm in AZ USA and I figure I can spend $150 but I really don't want to spend more than that. Fry's electronic has some really good deals so I can get a different card but I'm not sure what specks to look for?

CPU and RAM are OK, but I think you will want a HD5850 or better to play current\upcoming games on a 28" monitor.

Take a look at some benchmarks such as Toms Hardware as pctek said.

Then you'll get an idea what kind of performance you'll get out of each card at whatever resolution your monitor is.

I don't think a HD5550 or even HD5570 will be that great.

Well then, you are in the best place for new hardware, AMD is release the HD6xxx series on 22nd....this should see HD5xxx prices and NV 4xx prices drop. I believe you can pick up a GTX460 for around $178 US at present, I reckon you will be able to get it for about $150 by the end of the week. The GTX460 is today best bang for buck and probably the lowest performance card you would want to run 1080 on your monitor!

GTX460 should be pretty good, and it's nVidia so the drivers are better.

I'm thinking of getting one myself actually, the HD5770 I have now is a nice card but I am sick of the drivers (especially the Linux ones)

No, thats still too weak for 1080....here is comparison

Fry has 768Mb 460 @ 169, wait til next week, you will get the 1GB version for same price.....the comparison is stock card, 460 clocks up passed 900 core!!

Methinks a cooler kit that interfaces to an oil column heater may be handy in winter!

Oh come on, people have 800-1000w PSU, 75c is cool on today's GPU's, get a couple of 480's and then we can talk heaters....
