I've been thinking for a while on what motherboard I should get. I'm looking for a one with at least four DDR3 RAM slots, sub-$150, and preferably no serial port.
Help much appreciated.

And what CPU would you get? And would you get an ATX or MATX mobo?

Any idea about what CPU you are going to put in it? I'd hate to try and hammer an intel CPU into an amd socket.

why would you prefer no serial port? (just wondering) since USB is a universal serial bus it would have no USB support

Its not just the board you have to look at - the boards you linked, while cheaper require a Dedicated graphics card as well, since they don't have onboard Graphics. The one Speedy linked has onboard graphics.

I'm thinking of getting a cheap GPU off tradme then saving for something like a GTX 470

then saving for something like a GTX 470
Get an OC'ed GTX460 with 1GB memory instead. They perform just as well and are cheaper.
