B*gger, I can't wait for the foul weather to retreat so that I can do some surfcasting. There's plenty of whitebait around, so there should be plenty of whitebait predators around as well. The seas have been just a tad wild the last two weeks. Here in the Naki *rs*h*l*s like me, who can't go boating due to very, very bad episodes of sea sickness, love to catch anything.

This season I'm going to start off with plastics - Gulp - because I had some fair success last season. I just love the little plastic white crabs and the 5 inch Shad jerksbaits, Nuclear Chicken colour. Lethal. But I will try some more this year.

Any-one else had much joy with plastics? Gimme, gimme, gimme - name and colour.

A week to go before the freshwater season starts ... don't fancy trying to cast a fly in any direction with gale force southerlies blowing ... got my fingers crossed that the wind and river levels will drop significantly over the next week.

Plastics ... sorry, never tried them .... but have had some luck with imitation mice under willow trees. The big browns love them !!
