Driving these things is every bit as joyous as it should be, and the cars manage to nail the perfect blend of being predictable yet terrifying; bulls-eying apexes is an easy enough exercise thanks to the pounds of downforce generated by the car's wings, but braking and acceleration can prove delightfully skittish as they threaten to spear themselves into the nearest wall and any worries that the arcade bent of DiRT and GRID would make its way to F1 2010 are extinguished in one run.

Traditionally race-sims on the PC have been far more advanced then the dumbed-down racing games available on consoles.

Don't suppose it will make much difference with this one as its multi-platform, But it sounds good in that it may have been developed for a wheel rather then a gamepad.

I'm going to get it on console as I really want to play it on the big screen and my PC would probably need an upgrade, Just a pity the Xbox wheel is such a piece of crap compared to the Logitech wheel on my PC.

I concur, how anyone gets into the game (racing) on gamepad is beyond me...

However my Logitech wheel is a little worn out and cant afford a new one!

those logitech wheels are $500 arent they??

i've clocked forza 1,2 and almost half of 3 with a regular old gamepad just fine.

wouldn't mind getting one of those wheels for the 360 if the price is right

This (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/driving/f12010/players.html?tag=player-reviews%3Bheader%3Bmore) is more telling. Magazine reviewers always tend to be a bit harsh. I haven't played my PC version long enough to comment yet, although it dose freeze when loading the next race and you have to shut the game down and restart to get into the next race. This has been mentioned on Steams F1 2010 forum.

if people on here who have brought the game for whatever platform they have and gave a review of it that would be good.

the one thing i've been missing from racing games(the Forza series included) is no weather systems to spice it up.

racing in forza is great but gets mundaine with no weather variability etc,

the last f1 game i played was this on the old xbox
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/driving/f1careerchallenge/index.html?tag=result%3Btitle%3B1

that was a couple years ago since i played. the 360 has needed a f1 sim racer, just have to wait and see when i can get my hands on it.

I find most bad reviews/comments come from kids who expect to be able to win races by flooring it all the way around the track and bouncing off the walls...

myabe they are only good at arcade racers or play the sims with all the aids turned on.

i would say all on this forum who want to play this game will want the aids off to get the feel of what its like. simulations simulate what its like. dont like it, go play PGR.

The first F1 game I played on a computer was Geoff Crammonds Revs on a Commodore 64. Here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoff_Crammond) I have also had Stunt Car Racer, Formula One Grand Prix for the Amiga and Grand Prix 4 for the PC.

My first F1 game was Pole Position on the Atari 2600 in about 83......

Had a few on the C64 and Amiga, Pitstop 2 stands out in my memory for some reason, But the one that really boggled my mind was Indianapolis 500 on the Amiga.

Quite agree with you on the Indianapolis 500 on the Amiga. The car engine sounds really blew me away paticularly the doopler sound effects.

Gamespot should stick to smoking crack and giving over-the-top scores to rubbish games like Grid and Dirt.

Having spent a couple hours yesterday with the Xbox version...

Definitely sits on the arcade side of the fence, Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, I suppose they need to go for the largest market. The driving model is pretty basic, its dead easy to throw in clean reasonable laps within a few minutes of starting the game. I found myself repeatedly checking to see If I had accidentally switched on an aid or missed one that was left on.

This allows you to drive the car in a fashion that wouldn't keep the car on the track in a sim-orientated title, the clutch would be gone, the gearbox would be blown apart, the brakes melted and the car would be in a fence. This does somewhat detract from the driving experience as there is a lot of satisfaction to be hand in coming to grips with a detailed physics model and putting in a good race.

There is supposedly "depth" in the game, but damn, if you can ignore it then its pointless and counts as little more then fluff, which brings me to the career, 100% fluff. Luckily that can be ignored completely.

Graphics-alright, they do the job, atmosphere at tracks is well done. Not overly impressed though.

Audio-I like it, suitable scream, No retarded music at stupid times, and they don't have a commentary, all pluses in my book.

Gameplay-Meh, coming from codemasters it could have been a lot worse. I'm enjoying it mostly.

Overall (based on very limited first impressions) 6/10

Worth buying, but not at the obscene price it is currently going for.
