Who is John Peel?

I only know of Ken John Peel, who founded the London Police, as in the song "D'ye ken John Peel at the break of day" etc etc.

Robert Peel founded the police, thats why police are called bobbies (and also at one time peelers)

the song about John Peel

D'ye ken John Peel at the break of day

Is about a farmer, 'ken' of cause being Scottish or old English for 'know', couldn't tell if you knew that or were being facetious

The John Peel referred to by the original poster is the Late Britsh DJ
