Wasn't my idea - applied for a different position with them, but they think it's me.
I like the company and pretty much most of their products so I will accept.

They just starting over here, they want me to go to Aussie for a week to see how things are done there and so on.........

And advantages to starting off in a new company too - possibilities as they expand.

I.T co of course......and not Apple products either:devil

They do:
ASUS!!! Yeah!
And Toshiba, yay
And HP - yes, yes, but printers, servers and so on..........as was recently stated here - HP servers are alright. Right?

Well done. At last it would seem that a good door has opened for you. Great to have your feet on the ground floor of a new company. All the very best, I'm sure they know they have a good one in you.

Won't see me going over to the dark side.

Will you slapping in a complementary copy of Nortons with every sale ?
I hope the position is located in the opposite direction to the peak traffic flows, just to save a couple of hours of crawling each day.
Good luck with it!

Good to know.

Actually, I'm nervous - never been a rep before.......

You'll be fine - you know your stuff, so you won't need to try and BS people into buying things . . . .that's half the battle when you're dealing with reps.

Just be straight-up with people (I'm sure you will!!), and you'll be fine. :)

Congrats PCTek.

I am so pleased for you.

Let us know what its like after you start.

Years ago in the 1970's I applied for a sales reps job (groceries) and there were only two applicants me and the other guy, who had lost his licence drunk driving. So I got the job. All my mates were jealous as I got a company car etc.

Boy its a lot different now. there would be hundreds of applicants.

Stupid article. Yes I agree with not keeping hopeless staff, but to say a solution for all businesses doing badly is to fire 20% of their workforce si stupid.

A cure-all attitude. How about seeing why the company is having the problem first - could be nothing to do with staff, could be any number of factors.

Quite agree. If you are forever getting rid of the bottom 20% you are forever having to train 20%. It is like the trickle down effect of Roger Douglas's reforms. The only trouble is that there was no trickle down.

I dont agree with the author that companies could consider firing staff let alone do it, just being a big mouth I reckon.
Its almost impossible to fire staff these days unless you make it so uncomfortable they leave on their own volition you couldnt lay the bottom 20% off and rehire.
The whole concept is morally wrong because there is always going to be a lower 20%

The trickle down is the most efficient non subsidized farming sector in the world.
