Having trouble getting one to work - tried 2 drives and a USB one. All good in the BIOS, device manager sees the controller and the drive, it shows up in Computer but it wont read disks. It will try and format them but generally falls over part way through.

Anyone actually tried using a floppy drive in win7 x64 before? Does it work? Cheers.

Yes, I have a HP server USB floppy drive...no issues..seems you have a borked O/S

Wasnt there an issue with floppys and AMD chipsets on windows 7?

Gigabyte have released a newer BIOS that's fixed the issue - odd that they didn't put the floppy fix in the list of F7 BIOS changes on their website, guess they mustn't be very keen to advertise it. :badpc:

Maybe it's because only you 3 still use floppy drives :D

*ducks*

Seriously though, why do you need to use a floppy disk these days on a PC?

Trust me, it's not mine.

When the customer said he wanted a floppy drive in his new PC I looked at him in bewilderment. We didn't even have a new one in stock!

I was on the verge of giving him a new flash drive just so I didn't have to put a floppy in his machine, but no, he wanted it. :p

Interesting.. I guess I should complain to MSI and see if they can do anything to fix mine!
