Hi Team,
I got a friend who purchased an HP DV6 Pavilion Notebook. They want me to rebuild it with a fresh install of Win7 Home Premium without anything else (currently has bloatware installed). There is a standard recovery partition on the hard drive and I presume if I run this, it will re-install Win7 HP and all the other rubbish. No media was supplied in the box as I had to create recovery DVD's (x5).
How would I get a fresh copy of Windows 7 Home Premium installed? Would I be able to borrow a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium OEM DVD off someone and use the OEM license on the bottom of the unit?

Thanks.

Would I be able to borrow a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium OEM DVD off someone and use the OEM license on the bottom of the unit? Yep ,as long as its the same version it should work, no reason not to. Just make sure you have all the drivers before you wipe the drive.

If it doesn't activate, you simply call MS and say you had to reinstall it Via the COA on the bottom and they will give you a new activation key.

Will the key work with 32-bit & 64-bit though??

Should work OK with either 32 or 64 bit. Most of the time when a person gets the option to install either version the same key works on both. I know when I've Installed W7 either 64 or 32 on the Workshop PC's the keys are the same for both.

Of course if its a single user license, you can still only have the one OS installed, you cant have one PC with 64 and another with 32 using the same COA.

The DV6 has the 64-bit version of Win 7 HP. So now the mission is to find someone who has a copy of Win HP 64bit OEM....
