I put an item on trade me yesterday, today It says I sold it yesterday,I thought it was always 7 day auction?

I tend not to read these things.

What is the story?

Nomad

did you set a buy now?
did you change the auction duration?

You can set the length of the auction to less than the usual 7 days, maybe that is what you did. Or did you set a buy now on the auction ?

I must be more carefull.

I must have said buy now.

As it so happens I am glad to get rid of item.

The auction should tell you if they bought it with Buy Now.

Best thing to do is to set the start and reserve price at the same value, then set a buy now which is slightly higher than you would expect to sell it for. If someone wants the item NOW, they pay slightly extra. If not, they bid and after 7 days they possibly win the auction.

All I have reieved thus far,is an email asking a question.

When I went to answer question,I found I had sold.

This item successfully sold with Buy Now for $1.00

I like to learn the hard way.

The item is a 30000 Lt water tank with faulty top, barstuard to get rid of.

Actually you only got 50 cents since Trademe would have charged a 50 cent success fee!

'tis Sunday, appropriate enough for selling tanks with holes.
Did you include holy water?

Bit late now, but if you had just added "good indoor - outdoor flow"?

Maybe they'll decide its too much hassle then you've made 50c.
Keep on doing it and you're on the way to making a fortune.

Snorkbox

Wait as long as you like.

You have the insurance coming so it may belong to them now anyway.

If he no longer wants it I would like to know,he is not communicating.

Insurance have no interest in a lot of plastic.

If he is a genuine buyer I would expect an email by tonight. If he doesn't send anything by then it's even more likely he isn't going to.

Good for you if he doesn't, you can relist and maybe get a bit more than 50 cents!

Give them five business days.

Also check to see if they are running auctions of their own and possibly ask them a quick q regarding the water tank they purchased.

Trademe say 5 days as a guideline, and you must let at least 3 days pass before you can say the person never contacted you (to Trademe)

Then Trademe will try to contact them, if they don't reply or refuse to pay then you get your success fee refunded.

Surely as plastic, it can be recycled, and is worth something, perhaps $100. It would be food grade plastic too. They are bloody heavy those water tanks, so hope he has got a big truck. Perhaps they will chainsaw it into bits.

This time you could advertise it as a protypype Hobbit Habitat. Make the start price around $750 so you will get a better class of tyre - kicker.
Emphasise the included emergency exit.

With luck if all goes well I will give it to our Robb99,very useful for him, even if only for irrigation.

If the top is buggered why not measure 1.5 metres up the side and get out with the chainsaw, cut the top off and dig a bit of a hole and instant swimming pool

Search for some cheap pool fencing on TM

Cannot recommend this trader. Bids on item then ignores our email requests for him to contact us until nearly a week later. Agrees to phone prior to pickup, then fails to comply. We wasted a day sitting here waiting for him. Says he dozenít care; itís not for him anyway. Have blacklisted him. Avoid!
