You will probably want to get LAME to go with it if you want to output MP3s.

There are dozens of small file size recorders - e.g. MP3myMP3, Free Hi-Q Recorder, SoundCopy 1.1, Tinynice MP3, Freecorder, Free MP3 Sound Recorder, etc. After reviewing/testing many of them (In my blog below), I found not much difference, though some offer additional features, e.g. stream recording, editors, filters, equalizers, converters, etc.

Audacity stands out as the most popular free one, for most general music/audio/recording editing needs. There are many online reviews and tutorials. Though may seem basic compared to the paid Adobe Audition (formerly Cool Edit Pro) and others.

I think ill stick with audacity for now (unless something really spectacular appears) I only need it now and then when a record stars wearing thin and when I get new ones.

Thanks any way!!!
