Is LED backlit monitor the way to go or just stick to the 'normal' backlit ones?

Also, what are the pros and cons of LED backlit panels?

LED monitors use less energy for starters

and i believe they last longer/are more reliable (the lighting part of it, anyway)

Brightness, contrast and wider viewing angles are usually other reasons. LED is the way to go!

Avoiding the high voltage inverters in ccfl backlights is a good idea. Yep, LEDs are the way to go. It won't be long before LED ones are the only ones available.

I would recommend LED over CCFL for sure, no inverters to worry about failure of (although they are probably more reliable than the CCFLs themselves)

But if you go and buy a crappy cheap monitor with useless capacitors in the PSU, it's still going to fail quickly no matter if it has LED backlights or not. (and while this is usually easily repaired, it's not something you probably want to have to deal with!)

I put my LED laptop next to a non-led laptop of otherwise similar specs, on full brightness the LED was far brighter and more vivid. tis beautiful.
