View Full Version : Win Explorer can see newly added file but app can't!

I use two Vista computers, one Acer and one DELL.

Sometimes I place into a folder (e.g. AncestorPictures) a file which I want an app to link into its database.

But - the app's Browse or Add function cannot see the new file! It does not list in its listbox. Yet it IS there and it does list when I use Windows Explorer at the OS level.

I have seen this with two apps from different software houses.

Reason? Cure? Workaround?

App has a file extension filter in the browse window, and the file you're wanting has a different extension?

also, try refreshing the listbox - click in an empty space in the listbox, then press F5 on the keyboard. See if that works

Yey! Thanks guys. Great answers.

I had been STUPID.

In the DELL notebook I had two folders with the data files in both. (?) One under C:\ and one under \Documents.

I moved the new .jpg into the folder under \Documents but the app was expecting to find its data in the folder under C:\ !

Oh dear.

Thanks again. This will explain why the same problem occurs on the other computer running a different app. :)
