I cannot stand the Windows 7 search function, and I much prefer the XP one.

Does anyone use a 3rd party file searching tool on their Windows machine, that would be the same (or preferably even better than) the XP default?

If you just want to search on file names, I find Everything from voidtools (Speedy link above) is fantastic. Indexes whole disk in seconds and there is seemingly no system loading. You just start typing the name and it finds stuff in real time. You can also work on the files it lists as well.

Agent Ransack looks very good... I will try that one out first.

Thanks for your suggestions

It certainly doesn't look bad but I was impressed by Ransack's feature list...
