View Full Version : Remotely accessing 1 PC from others in the office

I am purchasing a new super duper PC for Ansys for the office and want to be able to access this pc from any other pc in the office and control it.
The idea is so any user can log in and use it from their own machine and run solves while leaving their own pc available for other work. Some solving can take 15 hours, so to have a separate pc to do this makes sense.

What do you gurus here recommmend?
It needs to be easy and low resources

You want multiple users to be able top log in concurrently, or can you get away with one at a time?

Just 1 at a time, as we only have 1 license for this Ansys program anyway

RDP Host (Not available in Starter or Home editions of Windows) or VNC.

I would have recommended Remote Desktop too, but how about VNC, you can use it locally and remotely, and all you need to do is install the viewer on a PC and you're away. If you don't have a static IP, use dyndns.

Team Viewer -- Set it up on the main PC you want to access to run 24/7 - assign a password and away you go.

TV will also allow LAN connections only.

The inbuilt Remote desktop will work, but only in certain versions ( pro and above)

Thanks for the repiles
I think Teamviewer looks lke the go
Once i have the machine i will have a play with RDC and TV

Cheers all

I have just had a play with RDC and was getting it confused with remote assistance, quite a big difference
RDC will do just nicely, thanks again
