"Busted" here in the States prolly is the same as 'Nicked" in Upsidedown Land.

I got busted by a Mokie on the beach of Waikiki for playing a ukulele without a permit.

That was in 1970 or so and I bet it's gone to warrant by now and I can never go back to Hawaii ever again.

I was sitting under the Moana Banyan tree, just strummin' and hummin' and this tall Five-O cop comes up and never even asks for my license (Do you have a lee-sance for your minkey?) and just hands me a citation.

Every time my wife wants to go there, I tell her to just go to Long Beach California and stand on any corner in the Summer. It's the same.

The confessional is OPEN - No waiting and please, one at a time.

The word in upside down land is also "busted".

Nicked is for Englander police like Z cars.

Why would I admit to a crime if I had committed one?

I have a feeling that the statute of limitations is all gone bye by now

There is no statute of limitations relating to playing a ukulele on a Waikiki beach without a permit ..... please pay your $25 fine (+ $10,552.75 interest) to the account I've just PM'd you.

Failure to do so will mean that your photo may be posted here -

Let me write you a check. Please be quiet about this. My wife has no idea of my criminal past.

So this (http://www.scribd.com/doc/32675141/Joseph-Vreeland)is nothing to do with you Joe? :)

EDI: Oh - just found another link (http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/crime/man-charged-in-west-haven-shooting) to the same episode. THAT Vreeland is only 19, so your alibi is good...

Beware of VREELANDS. My mom said they are all black-hearted Dutchmen and can't be trusted. You can always tell a Dutchman - but not very much.

If they don't sell used cars in pinchback suits, they are prolly in the Dutch mafia. Don't ask.

No and I don't intend to be either

'Busted' here is a very minor offense and not usually a felony. More like getting caught playing hookey or a ticket for jaywalking.

Playing a ukulele on a beach would not be a hangin' offense - at least I hope not.

It might be a hanging offence in Hawaii if you were playing badly.... :)

I was pretty good in those days on one.

A group of friends and I were caught with a couple of bottles of vodka in Chaffers park when I was 14. We were told that they would ring in a couple of days and that if we hadn't told our parents by that time then it would be referred to the youth justice team.

Needless to say the call never came.

I was terrified of telling my dad, who I was sure would completely freak. When I did all I got was "Vodka's a womans drink". I thought I was dreaming... Mum, who I was sure would be fine about it absolutely freaked out. She screamed at me for about half an hour.

Have had a few pretty harmless detours of the straight and narrow since then. Call them fishtails. Pretty boringly narrow now though.
