Hi guys,

Just today I had very sporadic connection to the internet.

about 20pings to www.trademe.co.nz would resolve and then around 5 minutes of no connection, however the router informed my that the gateway was still connected and the lights (DSL and internet) on the the router itself were both on.

I was wondering if any other Telecom users had any such problems or if its just me.

As a side note I replaced the cable between the ADSL jack and the router and the problem seems to have gone away.

Rumour has it that it was caused by the solar flare.
I remain unconvinced at this stage but many adsl areas in NZ fell over sporadically.

Yeah, connection in ChCh was a bit flakey after lunch, connection still up and solid, but sproadic & serious packet loss, seems to have come right now.

Yep, could barely get online to play Aion. It went on for like 20 minutes of intermittent disconnections and 2-3 mins of downtime, then 1 min of online time.

Our sites in Auckland City, North Shore, Wellington & Christchurch all experienced about an hour of limited or non-service earlier today.

We have had the same problems, but it seems to be back to normal now.

Their is a post about this on Geekzone: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=65608

It's been terrible at my parents place on Orcon, but me down the road 1.5KM (Same exchange) seems fine?

Mine was also being strange this morning. Rebooted the router and all came good. Normally this kind of thing does not happen.

My parents was dropping off for several minutes at a time, wasn't getting an IP Address, happened maybe a dozen times yesterday afternoon / evening. They've not rang me this morning to complain so who knows?
