Recently my computer has developed an annoying habit when I want to turn it off. I close all programmes then click the “turn off” button. I then get a window saying “end programme.” The two programmes it names are veohwebplayer and super anti spyware, neither of which are open. After I click “end now” it shuts down. How can I get my computer to turn off cleanly? Thanks

Update both or uninstall them. Sounds like they're hanging on shutdown

Yes it is hanging on shut down.

I update super anti spyware every week. I'll update the other one and see what happens.

Thanks JR

There doen't sem to be an obvious way to update veoh player on the site.
Is this likely to be the cause of it hanging?

The two programmes it names are veohwebplayer and super anti spyware, neither of which are open.

But are the set to load on startup and run in the background? Take them out of startup.

Or if the offending programs have been deleted and they are still hanging up (orphan registry entries etc), try this
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx
(be careful with this :stare:).

Thanks Guys,

I've taken Veohplayer out of start up and uninstalled Super Anti Spyware.

I'll see what happens.

I have just uninstalled SuperAntispyware, as it was finding adware cookies, that I could easily remove with ccleaner just before (as recommended by a PF1 forum member) scanning with SAS. Since then it has never picked up spyware for my PC, as mentioned in many reviews - but that could be browser - site dependent. I have a portable version and it's full version installer on standby in my USB stick, but no loner run scans with SAS. Malwarebytes and Spybot is what I use.

Try installing UPHClean
