Try going to Control Panel - System and Security - Programs - Programs and Features - Turn Windows features on or off, then scroll down for Windows Search and tick the box.

If it is already ticked, then I dont know :)

Right click on the start orb, click on properties, then click on customise.
There will be a list of features for the start menu, tick the ones you want, click ok, apply then ok.
Hope this helps.

Hi videoguy, got caught with one on wife's Win 7.

Search bar should be under the All Programs line, just type in your query.

Lurking.

The route I quoted is a bit roundabout, try this:

Control Panel then Programs , under Programs and Features you should see "Turn Windows features on or off", then you should hopefully find the Windows Search box which should be ticked.

I also use "Everything" search tool which is very good, and neat and small.
