Around $150+ range (Ususally +) for an OEM copy from a computer store. Assuming you can find it.

The prices mentioned were about right for XP HM OEM.

Biggest problem is finding someone who has it for sale still.

Microsoft have stopped supplying it to retail outlets and whole sale distributors some time back - so the only places that may have it still are shops with old stock.

If you're in Auckland, you can have this version of Home if you want it (OEM). I no longer use it. Haven't installed / used it for the last 3-4 yrs.

And I've still got the sticker thing for it. Its stuck to the side of my cd spindle thing atm

Go to TradeMe and get a used computer with XP Home OEM installed and COA for under $50. You probably won't get the installation disc however, but you will own the rights to use a copy of XP Home.

.. couldn't pick the hidden clues.
People on this forum say that OEM live and die on the original PC ...

Never owned OEM myself. We had Win31, Win95 upgrade, win2k upgrade or could of been the academic. Now Win7 Pro freebie from MS being a IT student

It may cost less than downloading a pirate version in the long run.

People on this forum say that OEM live and die on the original PC ... NO not quite correct.

Its Microsoft that say the above -- people here are only quoting what MS state in the OEM licensing.
