Can anybody tell me what a firewall is,and what it does.
And do I need one if I have nortons antivirus program.

Hi. Try www.grc.com and go to his firewall page - some fantastic information there on personal versions.

Basically a firewall is a packet filter which examines incoming and outgoing data and destinations and blocks according to rules you've set. Works similar to a proxy, but not as efficiently.
