Hi there guys,

I am looking to custom build a PC display platform, much like the ones shown here, the first orange one is the one I have in mind and would like to build something like that myself :D

http://technabob.com/blog/2008/07/23/when-is-a-computer-case-not-a-case-at-all/

and it brings me to this question, the backside of the computer case, is there standard for it? like the standard size for the rectangular hole which you put your mobo I/O shield, and the standard size slots for your PCIe/PCI expansion cards, and their relative positions, etc.

I went all over the net and can not find such a thing, I'd imagine these things are pretty well documented and can be accessed easily?? like a pdf file of some sort???

if anyone know if such thing exists please point me to the right direction.

Thanks for the help in advance

Yes AFAIK they are all standard sizes/locations etc.

Yes they are all standard as long as you choose the same sort motherboard and case. eg ATX or M-ATX.

The case specification tells you what type of motherboard it fits.

The motherboard comes with the insert for the rear panel connectors which fit into a standard size hole in the case.

I don't think you will find standards for chassis design.

Manufacturer's chassis will be designed dimensionally to accept the form factor standards for motherboards, powersupplies, hard drives etc.

Each manufacturer will have their own detail layout ideas for a "thermally advantaged chassis", they will all be different.
