ThanksI personally use icecast as the server, and mpd as the stream source, on a Debian system.

Icecast will eat almost anything you throw at it, and it scales extremely well. MPD is incredibly flexible, and you can wire it up to almost anything else that takes your fancy.

Can you provide a bit more information about what you're actually wanting to stream, via what connection, and on what hardware?

What are the requirements it needs to fulfill?

Are there any existing constraints that need to be worked around (e.g. weird operating systems, unusual mixing requirements, multi-location sources etc)?

Reminds me of the days I used to be a young habbo fanatic.

Anyway, this site was used a lot.

http://www.listen2myradio.com/

It works well, handles a reasonable server load as well. Been around forever and a day.

Here's their tutorial.

Uses shoutcast.
