I was just wondering, why is it so hard to find NZ music from the 60's?

I had to look through bargain bins at my local warehouse to find the Ray Columbus and the invaders Definitive collection 2CD set.

i am also looking for a new zealand song from the 60's called "The Hucklebuck". From what i've read it was a hit in 1965 by some new zealand group. i have also heard a few seconds of it on the 50yrs of nz tv doco and on the Big Night in telethon Nostalgia hour which i taped but can't find.

Exactly right, Tommy Dorsey 1949, also Lionel Hampton.

Interesting link Trev - just to move it up about 20 years, does anyone know where I could lay my hands on a CD of Street Talk/Street Talk (if such a thing exists). I have the LP and have converted it to digital, but the results are less than ideal (a few scratches at key points in a number of tracks)....

This directory type site - Sergent com (http://www.sergent.com.au/music/nzmusic.html) has plenty of information on dozens of NZ groups from the 60's to early 80's including The Chicks.

Hey goodiesguy,
Do you know a song by Tommy Adderly, "Like Dreamers Do"? I haven't been able to find a copy anywhere. Also do you like Max Merrit and the Meteors? One of my fav bands of the 60s.
