A friend's printer/scanner(EpsonstylusCX3900) won't switch on. I've checked the power lead and thats OK. I suspect that even if the problem is a duff On/Off switch its probably cheaper to buy a new machine than get the faulty one repaired.
Any thoughts?

Agree, though somewhat wasteful :badpc:.

If it was my machine I would open it up if only to see whether the switch is replaceable but since its a friends.....

The fault could be in the DC output voltages... Fixable yes. Worth it no.

Most likely it's a single faulty component with value of $2 or less

The problem is working out which one...

you can get a printer for as less as $49. or a multi function unit for under $100 that can do proper photo printing.

Ask repair cost or just buy a new one.
