My Dynalink RTA770 router has 4 RJ-45 ethernet connectors all in use, plus a USB type B jack (squareish with 2 bevelled corners.) What might I use that for?

That's normally used for connecting a computer that lacks a network card. In most cases, ethernet is a better choice.

This user guide says it is able to be used as a connection.
However I note that it only lists a driver for Windows ME, 2000 and XP
I don't know if it will work with Vista or 7

Some routers also have a USB port for attaching A printer - But the router has to be capable of acting as a print server as well.

OK, thanks. I didn't have a use in mind - just suddenly wondered what it was for...

I dug out a spare USB cable and connected the PC and the router. Windows 7 immediately recognized it and tried to install a driver, but not surprsingly, couldn't find one. As I said, merely an interesting question - now answered.
