Have XP and MS Word 2007.

I find the glaring white of the onscreen document page a bit much to cope with on a long day.

Have checked all the possibilities I can find but cannot find a way to change the default colour for this particular item. But surely it is possible. Can anyone help me out?

Many thanks.

here explains it - with pictures (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/microsoft-office/add-background-color-to-word-2007-documents/)

To change it permanently This article (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091214023734AAM0PQ4) explains -- never tried it, so no idea if it works - I normally change a doc as and when required.

Mmm. Does that print the colour?! I looked it up in word and it said:
Display a blue window background
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.
Select the Blue background, white text check box.

Which I is a display only thing, it still prints normally with black text.

I do remember earlier versions of Word could pretend to be Wordperfect in which case you got a dark blue background with white text.

Maybe you could adjust your monitor settings to make it softer?

In your case, perhaps night time setting would be more ideal.
