Why on earth is this necessary??

Unless they were putting some extra transmitters over this way on Mt Campbell or Takaka Hill (would be nice GBA!!) I really cant see why they are doing this... :confused: grumble grumble international compliance grumble grumble

I think the radio stations have a 20 year lease on their frequencies. After that the Government puts the frequencies up for tender again for another 20 years. Thats how I understand it to work.

could well be because there has been some cross talk between the stations ie interference, too many stations close to each other within range of each other.
bump the channels and transmitting power around a bit to get them to slot in together without interfering with each other.

And here I was thinking they were changing the entire thing and we'd have to buy new radios that work on 108 - 128Mhz or something

No biggy my fav station The Coast remains unchanged.
