I have just bought a new WD elements external hard drive 1TB how can i set up an automatic back up from C drive to new external drive?

have you plugged it in?

it should have its own backup software on it

yep its plugged in i had to manualy copy and paste my files but would like it to happen automaticaly

if it is then it doesnt have the back up software on it.

i've got the 500GB portable elements and it doesnt have backup software

Windows has a backup utility which you can run on a schedule. Which O/S do you use?

So have you looked to see if the backup program is installed? On some systems it wasn't by default but can be installed via your CD assuming you have one.

Syncback is a good free back up program that can be scheduled works extremely well and you won't even notice its running. I use it daily on 3 computers to back up to my backup computer
