I am using MS Security and to date I have had no problems. Yesterday it picked up a virus and asked to clean my computer to which I said yes. It reported that the file was quarantied.

Since then I have the following message on startup:
Access Violation 1322657F in module MS17e5.exe read of address 0000000

I can only assume that it is avestage of the virus that my antivirus is not picking up.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

If MS17e5.exe appears in startup delete the entry (either by going to start/run, type msconfig, then go to the startup tab). Or use ccleaner, and delete the entry under tools/startup

Thank you

I have done that and removed the problem at startup.

There is a icon on my desktop labeled "My Security Engine" which has only appeared very recently.

Clicking on this icon takes me back to the same Access violation window. Click OK and then I get the message that MS17e5.exe has to be shut down.

OK to that and up comes the MS Security local home page.

What do you suggest for the next step.

Thank you

Go to add remove programs (programs and features) and remove MS Security.

You have a rogue antivirus (malware)

Disable system restore, then do a full scan with something like malwarebytes

Thank you Speedy Gonzales

I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes and that programme found and quarantied a number of infected files.

Everything appears to be back to normal.

Thank you to all who replied to this query.

Run Spybot as well.
