........so my neighbor (2-miles away, out walking his dog from horseback) hands me a CD with Liquid Player-6 on it: "I thought you'd like this" he says.

NOW - to ask youse guys - what is it? I Googled it and got some confusing answers - but that might just be me too! Confused, that is.

Is this an answer to my having to use WMP9 since WMP11 won't hold all my files?

WMP11 and I do not get along any more. (At least it's not L-based!)

I don't really like WMP9 - it's interface (the part that the human can see) is clumsy and it's not all that friendly either.

I tried to get WMP10, which I DO like, but XP says: "Talk to the hand" and won't let me do it. Something about incompatibility. Doh!

WOT? I had it here - it ran and ran well and last year I foolishly 'upgraded' to WMP11. Now I can't go back except TWO steps.

Bill Gates, I hate you!

Looks like it just does music. No video.

Can WMP9 and Liquid Player live in the same computer?

Can WMP9 and Liquid Player live in the same computer?

Yes. But then you have to think about the default file associations.

When you click a media file which of the two players are going to open same.

Cant see why not. You can install as many audio programs as you want on a PC

I imagine so, as much as quirky MS applications can co-exist with others....

XP says that WMP10 is incompatible with my Windows installation. That's just nuts, right?

OK - UPDATE on Liquid Player 6.
It makes my computer very angry - so angry that it cycles though boot-shutdown-reboot-shutdown- etc.

I went into Safe Mode and killed it and then ran CCleaner from there after "Add/Remove Programs".

Whew! Gone and all re-booted well and normally again.

I really still want WMP10 again though. :crying

I might try a third-party installation of WMP10.

Yeah - me too, all too well etched into my gray cells.

I honestly thought v11 was pretty nice - it let me drag and drop album covers into those silly default album icons when the network could not find the music I had downloaded. V9 won't let that happen.

The eye candy in v11 is nice, but somehow the wheels fall off when you get to 13,000-14,000 MP3 files and it all goes kaflooey!

I see that there's a few codecs on the referred-to past posting when it fell apart last time. Do you think it's safe to get the v7,8,9,10 codecs now too?

Just as a matter of interest is your XP 32 bit or 64 bit?

I ask because currently I run Win 7 Pro 64 bit and that comes with WMP12 installed.
I downloaded WMP10 and uninstalled WMP12 and then rebooted. Tried to install WMP10 and it gave an error that said can only be installed on Win XP ( 32 bit ).

Truth be known I'm quite happy with WMP12 but I don't need all the album art.

If you want I can upload WMP10.exe to a local server here along with the latest Klite codecs and PM you a direct link.

I thought he didn't because it would crash at his 15,000 song music collection...

What does the second to last sentence in post #9 say?

In post #1 it's WMP11 that won't hold all the files.

Clarifying here:::

v11 got all goofy-footed* when it got to a certain limit. I dunnow why - it just did.

v9 ran OK but is lame-o I feel and not user friendly. IOW- it generally sux.

I got v10 right now and it seems to be happy with the large files. I had it before and got it again (thanks to the heads-up where to get it - you know who you are!).

Liquid Player6 was a bad idea as it repeatedly crashed my XP-P/SP99 or whatever the SPs are at now.

I can't lose the MP3s any more - well, not from stupidity of mine by trying 'new things' on this Media unit. I have them all backed up in three great hidey-hole places from now on.

NO - I AM NOT GONNA TRY A DUAL-BOOT WITH L AGAIN. NEVER!!! Hear me?!?

* goofy-footed = left foot forward on a surfboard.
