I have been given the task of trying to get a vodafone k3565-z USB stick to run on a Eee PC with Xandros linux installed. I'm not a linux fan - (especially after playing around with this piece of rubbish) but would like to try & get it working for the owner. I can't seem to find drivers anywhere and after googling for a solution for hours with no solutions, thought someone here may have previous experience or knowlege of setting it up?

Hi Paul,

Those modems are re-badged ZTE devices.
A quick google for "ZTE K3565-Z Xandros" and I discovered that you need the Vodafone Mobile Connect (VMC) software, which you can obtain from here:
https://forge.betavine.net/projects/vodafonemobilec/

I then had a feeling you might be interested in a How-To, so I Googled for "How-To Linux Vodafone Mobile Connect" and found this:
http://www.howtoforge.com/vodafone_mobile_connect_card_driver_linux

I believe in the Xandros that the EeePC ships, you have to hit Ctrl + Alt + T to bring up the terminal window, so there may be small differences between the doco ^^ and what you have to do.

Hope this helps :)

Leeenux might be worth considering. It's a modified version of Ubuntu netbook remix targeted at the Eee 701

I think it's much better than the Xandros from Asus...
