On start up, keyboard and drive lights flash ok, but screen is blank. The fans and drive drawers operate, but the green light on the front facia is not wprking. I have tried another graphics card without success. The monitor is also ok. Help please.

Another dopey question. Is the monitor plugged into an onboard card or a new card you just installed? Have you tried the monitor on another PC?

OK. The monitor worked three days ago but have you tried same monitor on another box?

Did you get one beep earlier which would be usual?

Monitor fine on another PC. No new card, but tried another card to check. Same result.

Motherboard has no graphics. It is "vintage" kit.

Someone didnt open the case and replace the CPU or something did they? Or remove something? Since you installed a card, you didnt knock anything did you?

PSU? ("Green light"= power indicator?)
Bad caps (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/Leakycaps1272701099.jpg) in PSU or on motherboard?
Hard drive spinning? (Feel it).
Ram? (pull sticks out alternately (with power disconnected!) and see if it boots).
What brand motherboard, CPU, PSU does it have?
"Vintage kit", all above are likely, especially popped capacitors :horrified.

Could you please inform the collective group what make and model of PC you have and what you were doing? How do you know the monitor is OK?

How do you know the monitor is OK?

According to message 7 he has tried the monitor on another system.

Silly questions but all connections good and the video card seated properly.
