I have a couple of .avi films that I would like to save onto DVD to play on my TV via a DVD player.

How would I go about this?

If you have vista use movie maker, edit it then burn it with dvd maker

If you have the full program Nero, it will convert on to DVD for you. If not, use the application DVD Flick to do it.
I suggest the simplest way to do it is to burn your avi files to a blank DVD. You must not burn the folders with the files. The avi files have to be in the root structure of the DVD.
Most DVD players will play back the avi files with no problems.

Or use DVDflick

Most DVD players will play back the avi files with no problems.

But a lot don't so check first to see if yours does

Dvd players which play AVI (xvid or divx) are often restricted to certain profiles of video. Check First before burning dvds

convertXtoDVD does the job well and
has its own burner. Easy to use with
options for video aspect ratio & audio
formats.
