Uninstall MSE, or Avast. You dont need both

You can tick these, then tick fix checked

Hi Speedy, reason I posted, the pc would not restart/shutdown.

Also ran Housecall and it picked up virusus:

arc.dll
shellext.dll

both from rootkits.

What was the name of the rootkit then? And where are those files? Did you scan the whole hdd with one of those??

Didn't take note of the rest of the description.

Checked it out with Google, then had Housecall delete.

Do a scan with trojan remover. See what that picks up. Install then update it first. Then scan the whole hdd with it

Hi Speedy, just as well it's a holiday!

Ran Trojan Remover and updated it and all is clean, ran it over the external drive of 640 gig as well, photos/videos of 4 grandchildren on that one (they are all under 5) our 2 started late, lol.
