Let me enlighten ( maybe) convair used to be on my friends list, but I removed it since that was the second name change, the original was jimm (also removed when name changed)-- Now its convair580 As requested in this post (http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/showthread.php?t=107722) --- confusing :lol:

Actually, I have some sympathy for you, convair. If you really have nothing to do with the new registration, it seems unfair that you should have to start again.
But as for the "Why should someone do this?", surely you have a suspicion about who..?

Well yeah, my old PC only had 512MB RAM, a P4 and integrated graphics :p

(Actually, it's running Vista now on 1GB of RAM.)

What luxury items you have in Karamea. I can't say what I had to count with it's not PC just remember I grew up not far from London when the Jamaican's were all coming over there

My first computer had 38k available RAM and no operating system at all.
I had one started with 64 Bytes, then finally upgraded to a full 128 bytes after it gained a 16 key kb instead of switches. SCMP, a genuine 4 bit processor and the only input was by key until - shock horror - it gained a cassette input and sometimes printed out by teletype. Everything in machine language.
Better than Vista of course ;)

Bloody hell none of us are that rich, giving away an apple indeed when all we can afford on here is windows. Which to me is a far better way to spend your money than on frivolous fancy coloured boxes that do the same job at 5x the cost

My first PC (ignoring the 64K Spectrum) was an 8086 (I think) with 480K.
I remember adding chips (RAM modules) to bring it up to a massive 640K.
In those days the memory was a black plastic block, about the size of a lego, with 12 or so metal legs hanging out the sides.
Had about 12MB HDD if memory serves. It was replaced with a machine with a 'massive' 20MB HDD, which sadly was fired when it's cable worked loose from the edge of the circuit board (before the IDE connector).
It was replaced with a 40MB HDD, at great expense, but I thought I was a #&*$@ king with all those MB!

Now I'm hanging out for 3TB drives. Who'd have ever imagined storage needs would go so crazy.

In the early 90s hdds were around $1 per meg. Imagine the price of a terabyte drive lol.
There was a DSE ad the new 25 mb hard drive all you will ever need.

Well KFU is anything but airworthy anymore but neither the plane or crew weren't totally at fault apart from a questionable decision to fly in such conditions :(

Its quite good when some **** gets caught , one of my customers who has an earthmoving firm.
He used to (bit old now) open the cab door of the truck and pull the driver out and give him a hiding for not doing walk around pre start checks on the truck.
