Some smart cookie has deleted a windows live mail account, thinking that it would only delete the account settings, not the entire account incl inbox, sent items etc etc. (Just like OE used to).

Will those folders still be around somewhere or have they actually been deleted? Anyone had any joy with recovering the emails in this situation?

Thanks.

There is an outfit in Wellington that did this for a friend of mine, it cost him three figures!

Microsoft might be able to recover it from a backup if you ask nicely

That would only work if the person in question was using hotmail wouldn't it?

I was assuming it was a Hotmail account...

If you want to recover files from the PC, you can use data recovery tool on the hard drive. But if you want to go down that route, make sure they stop using their computer straight away, then take the drive and scan it with another PC

Yep, I think that will be the best option in this case.

Anyone heard of this crowd before? Downloaded the trial and it's supposedly found everything, think it might be worth buying.

Well if anyone has this problem in the future, that worked a charm, recovered everything even stuff from before the notebook was upgraded to Win7 from Vista, so it's done good. Recommended! :banana
