I need to set up an online email account, and have hit the wall! Having spent all afternoon playing with Gmail I have uncovered a few limitations with it:

1) It can't attach multiple attachments from within Google Docs. It can only attach one file and ONLY if you open the file then 'share' it to someone.
2) You can't have an email open then go to another file or email without having to close down the email that's open.
3) You can't have a picture/logo in your signature.
4) The area for typing emails is very small, meaning lots of scrolling down.
There's a few other weird things that show Google hasn't really got a proper 'cloud' email client yet.

What I need is basically 'Outlook in the Cloud' with an email address that can have my business name in it, as a prefix is fine, doesn't have to be in the domain name area. And one that I can have more then one person using at the same time

Ideally, whilst travelling, we would be able to reply to emails from this dedicated stand alone email client, attach files and docs (ideally a few sitting inside the email client, and not just from the hard drive). I want to keep all emails going to this particular email program completely separate to other business emails, thus precluding using my xtramail server, which is very good by the way, far superior to Gmail.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Add gmail to an email client. It may work

Do you have an Exchange server set up by any chance (or are you willing to set one up)? If so, then Outlook Web Access will probably fit the bill perfectly.

Why not just ask for another email address and use that?

If you've got 5+ users you could go with Microsoft Online Services, which includes Exchange Online with Outlook Web Access.

It also works with Outlook when you're on your own PC.

It's NZ$8.62 per user per month and there is a free trial. Details here:
http://www.microsoft.com/online/en-nz/exchange-online.mspx

Ideally you would have someone technical to help set you up, and include them as the partner. There are probably some people on this forum who could help you out with it.

Zoho (http://www.zoho.com) is a solid competitor to Google Apps and is for the most part free. They have a large suite of optional paid services but just sticking to the 'basics' you should be able to keep it free quite easily.

But would Gmail for business along with Google apps offer what you require? It seems you were playing about with standard Gmail. You can also integrate the Manymoon (https://www.manymoon.com/auth/login) utility (for Google users - described here (http://www.labnol.org/software/google-project-management/12840/)) for Google docs and calendar for project management
