Hi guys, i'm looking to buy a laptop, and i have these in mind.

Laptop will be used for uni and occasional gaming, but i would like to be as future proof as possible.

Now the question is...Does the new Core i5 justify the price difference compared to a Core i3 or even Core 2 duo??

In this case the core i5 only provides a better core clock, really. So the option I would choose is the first one. Unless of course you want 180GB more HDD capacity and a slightly faster clock speed for $400. The last one does have the fastest video chip but no wireless n so it's future-proofed in terms of video processing but not networking.

So, the second option gives a larger HDD and a slightly higher clock speed, same graphics.

And lastly the third has a slightly larger screen 15.6"-16.0" and a slightly faster graphics chip 158 gigaflops compared to 182 gigaflops.

In terms of future-proofing, one can never be sure but all these laptops should be "solid" for at least the life time of the latest OS, Windows 7. And for gaming all the options should play most games reasonably well on the right settings.

My choice would be the first laptop since you aren't getting much more for the price of the second one and you could always use that spare cash to buy an external hard drive or some peripherals.

Hope this helps

I would avoid HP and get either ASUS or Toshiba.,
In that order.

I would also go here instead:
Playtech - Toshiba 1500/02J - $1,999.00
