I have some Altec Lansing AV300 2.1 computer speakers... I've had them for a while and they're great, however they seem to have recently developed a loose connection, so I want to open them and see if I can fix...

however I can't figure out how to open them :) any ideas/suggestions? There are no screws that I can see, and I can't figure out how they've clipped together.

Cheers,
Mike.

Screws often hide under labels or feet...

I found an image of them online before... I'll see if I can find it again and I'll post a link...

Can you take more detailed photos and post them to ImageF1 etc?

These better?

As you can see there are no screws anywhere... the line across the bottom & up the side looks like the join, but I can't get a knife/screwdriver or anything in there enough to move anything except scrape off a bit of the plastic... its somehow being held together quite tightly.

PS ooh look post 1000... should I celebrate? :)

Aah.. They'll most likely be glued then.

I have heard that if you freeze them in a plastic bag, and then apply pressure you should be able to crack the glue and get them open (referring to power adapters)

Might work for these though I can't verify it.

Is it possible that the speakers are just 'clipped' or 'latched' on? Does running an opening wedge tool work?
