I'm trying to make custom icons for some of my folders, but windows is displaying them as tiny thumbnails, even though the image is 200x200. Does anyone know how I can get them to display at the same size as the default icons?

Did you save them as .ico files??

Yes. I tried ico and bmp, both get resized.

I've made icons in the past, not recently, but they are usually 32x32 pixels and around 766bytes. The last one I made was for Win98, a transparent icon to hide shortcut arrows :)

Google says there are several freeware icon makers around:

There are also freeware files of varied icons that can be downloaded.
