View Full Version : Netscape in Redhat Linux

Hi, all

I just bought a new external modern today. I got it to connect to my ISP in Redhat with no problem. But here is the catch. Netscape seems not to recognize that there is a connection going on in the background (i am certain that i am connected, 'cause the phone is engaged). How do I get the program to recognize the connection? (i tried to connect with both wvdial and kppp, both connected)

I am using a D-Link External Modem, and Redhat 7.0.

I havn't used linux with a modem myself because of my winmodem, heres some general stuff.

What error message does NS give you?
Have you told it your proxy & DNS servers?
And can you ping anything, ie 'ping www.yahoo.com' and 'ping 216.115.102.78' (yahoo's IP).

Hmm. Pinging failed... It said something like unknown host or something. And yes, NS did say, something like 'unknown server'. I am using Inet as my ISP, and I have no need to specify DNS in Windows 98 SE.
