Hi,all. My daughter has an odd problem I've never come across.
She just had Telstraclear broadband installed, with the standard Motorola modem.
She bought a D-Link DIR300 wireless router,so she could use her compaq laptop online as well.I set this up exactly as per instructions.
When router inserted, both desktop and laptop show broadband as connected, but unable to reach any site,"page cannot be displayed".
Desktop connected directly through BB modem works fine.
This has driven me nuts for 3 days.
One thing I thought of,her laptop has Trend antivirus, which seems annoyingly "nannying".Could this be causing this trouble,or should I look elsewhere?
Btw.,even if I connect the laptop wired to the router, the problem is the same.
I'd be grateful for any help anyone could offer.

You need to go to the LAN connection in the Computer, right click it, properties, select Internet protocol tcp/ip4 write down the IP address and DNS server address - then set both to obtain automatically.

The modem connects into the WAN port on the Router - the PC connects to port 1,2,3 or 4 (doesn't matter which)

Then open the routers settings, locate the WAN setup, type in the Address and DNS servers exactly how they were in the PC-- Should now connect Via the router.

ALSO the firewall in trend needs to be set to allow the complete address's from the router - or could be -
