I am trying a small program called 'eeectl.exe' which allows the processor to operate at its native speed of 900mhtz. It is normally underclocked by about 40%. It is much faster, and I presume will drain the battery quicker, but can be disabled when on battery power.

Seems to be stable (on XP). Does anyone know if there are any detrimental effects caused by doing this?

No. Might run a tad warmer.

My conclusions after trying my Eee 701 at 900mhtz are:-

1] Launches software quicker.
2] Once software is launched, actual word processing, web browsing etc is the same.
3] Processor temp over 60c and fan at 60%
4] Battery life decreased by 40%

Gets very hot. Not practical.

I generally run my Eee at 765MHz, a nice tradeoff between 630MHz and 900MHz. It doesn't get as hot, yet it's still faster than everyone else's. :D
